Jordan Brand and Orlando-based retailer Trophy Room linked up once again to create one of the most anticipated releases of 2021, the Jordan 1s High Trophy Room. The design pays homage to Michael Jordan’s first All-Star appearance at the 1985 NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, which coincided with the release of the Air Jordan 1. Limited to just 12,000 pairs, the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG SP ‘Chicago’ draws inspiration from a moment in NBA history dubbed ‘the freezeout’: in 1985, playing in his first ever All-Star Game, MJ was reportedly denied the ball by established stars who wanted to embarrass the brash rookie. Marcus Jordan’s sneaker boutique dresses the high-top in an OG-inspired palette, MJ’s signature is scrawled across the lateral heel, while a dual-branded patch adorns the sockliner. The sneaker’s tooling pairs a vintage off-white midsole with an icy translucent rubber outsole.

Using the original Chicago colorway as its template, the Jordan 1 High Trophy Room gives a classic colorway an entirely new look. The upper is constructed of white leather, red leather overlays that are top coated with a glittery finish, and hits of black on the Swoosh and ankle. The quote “Rumor has it…” is embroidered on the interior side of the ankle nods to the rumors of fellow NBA stars plotting to freeze Jordan out of the All-Star game by limiting his possessions. Other details include a print of Michael Jordan’s signature is featured on the heel and a special Jordan patch on the insole. A white midsole and translucent outsole with red and blue stars beneath the arch complete the design.
